Day 6 & 7, Week 2

OK, yesterday I blew off the gym. We really needed food and the commissary is always an adventure. With everyone's schedule, and my lack of enthusiasm, it just wasn't going to happen.

Today is different story. I did my long run out at Back Bay Wildlife Refuge. I love this place. I saw a flyer for a Beach Clean-Up starting at 10AM, so my plan was to run early and then help with the clean-up. Well, last night one of the park rangers called me and said there were not enough people signed up, so they were canceling. After talking with her, I learned that they always have trash bags at the visitor's contact station and anyone can ask for them. They can always use the help. So, after my run I got two bags and picked up trash and debris for 3 miles. A fabulous day.

Distance: 12 Mile Run, 3 Mile Beach Walk
Time: 1:38 for the Run, 1:34 for the Trash
Average Pace: 8:13
Temperature: A crisp 81 degrees. OK, it wasn't crisp, but it was a lot better than 95.
Humidity: Low and tempered by cool ocean breezes
Walk Breaks: Potty stop at 6 miles ( in a real life outhouse, thankfully, there was a toilet seat over the hole) and one walking water break.
Wildlife Encounters: 1 Bald Eagle, sitting so regally on a piling right next to my path! Egrets, turtles, 1 Osprey (very big!), no snakes.
Injuries: Some serious chafing from my new camelback.
