I'm so bummed. I found this on the ATM website under the Rules section:

NEW! Video & Audio Devices Prohibited On ATM Course - USA Track & Field (USATF) Rule 144.3(b) states that the visible possession or use of video or audio devices (CD or DVD players, mobile phones, and MP3 players, etc.) within the area of competition - is prohibited.

For track events this a mandatory rule. For road races, USATF strongly recommends the prohibition of theses video/audio devices in race competition because of the safety issues they present. Army Ten-Miler supports this USATF position and will prohibit all video and audio devices on the Army Ten-Miler race course.

You know what I find the most annoying? The first word: "NEW!" As if this is an exciting turn of events. I might be out just for this reason. 10 miles without my music? Yeah, I know V. did 26.2, but she's good at this. I need all the help I can get. Ugh.

OK, this sucks! For Real! I know I did it before, and I also learned that I don't want to do it again.

Okay, this makes me want to either cry or scream. My whole motivation for running ten miles was this particular race. I wanted to run around the nations monuments (great scenery to keep my mind busy) with my "Army" friends. But...I don't know that it can happen without music (I can't stand to hear myself breath when I run). Can we start a petition???
