I'm doing a 5K! Well, just walking it. And I haven't officially signed up yet since I'm waiting to see if any of the girls will do it with me. But just the thought of getting out there with everyone else, feeling the energy, and moving (albeit slowly) is exciting.
I have a question about jogging strollers, but Rachel may be the only one with recent experience (don't know if you already have kids Billie). What's a good brand? I only need a single and I'm willing to pay for lightweight. I've never been very good at running with a stroller since it takes the arms out of the equation, but I won't have a choice if I want to run. Any advice?

Rachel may have more recent experience and there may be new stuff out there. I spent years running with Tanner. I bought a Kool Stride. It was recommended by some very competitive athlete moms at my old gym. The 20in wheels (a must for maneuverability) are a bit tilted in like a racing wheel chair. It was very comfortable, very smooth and I could turn with one hand and little effort.
They are expensive, but I had no problem selling mine when I was ready. Google will tell you more.
I wish I was going to walk it with you!!! Fred has class :(
Maybe I can take the kids out there and cheer you on :)
I spent all my money on the bike trailer and didn't get a very good jogging stroller. So if I were to do it over again... I would shop for and compare BOB, Kool Stride, and Baby Jogger strollers. Those seem to be the most popular lightweight brands.
Also you can now put your arms back into the equation with stroll-smart (google to find out more). I haven't tried it but I think it would work well once you were used to it (and didn't have too many sharp turns).
My first kiddo, and I'm actually trying to figure out the stroller thing, also. Well, mostly trying to decide if I should get a regular stroller (like the chicco or Graco) and then get a separate jogging stroller a few months later; or just get a BOB Revolution which is a bit more aimed at all-around cruising.
I had with the kids a twin one from baby jogger with the 20 inch wheels and after we had a cheap one, I was in heaven with the baby jogger one. The 20 inch wheels make it very easy to push but isn't good until the kids can sit on their own (ours didn't recline but we got it when they were close to 1 and 2) well spent money back then.....
