Got Plans For May 5 & 6?

There has been some discussion about triathalons. Well...I think I may have found something of interest for all of us. Below is two triathalons, one sprint distance and one half Ironman distance. The Half is on May 5 in White Lake, NC and the sprint is the next day. We could do 2 three female relay teams. Patti called and would be willing to train for the half swim. I can do the half marathon run. Do we have a taker for the 56 mile bike? By the way, there was only one all female team last year for the half. I know that there will be lots of babies next spring, but 1/3 of the sprint might be doable.

I don't think I'd be available. I'd love to do the bike portion but I don't think I'd have enough time for that area to ahem, heal. :)

But one of my friends did the half last year at White Lake and she said it was a good experience. I mean, she did say it royally kicked her ass and that training for a half-tri is way harder than a marathon, but she still said it was a great race :). But I imagine if you do a team concept it'd be much more manageable.

On that note. Rachel (you're a road biker right?) how long did you wait before you hopped back on a bike? I know it's a bit different for everyone, but I'm kinda curious what I can expect :)

Well, I had a horrible delivery and my precious little one cracked my tailbone on the way out. I spent 8 months in physical therapy to try and heal all the muscle and nerve damage done by the forceps and baby... so I am probably not the best person to ask. It took me 6 months before I could sit on a bike for longer than an hour. One of the spinning instructors was back at 5 weeks post baby teaching though.

I would love to do the bike leg of the half, now I just have to figure out how to get there and what to do with Rylin (Chris will be at NTC during that time). I will talk to Chris about it, but I don't have my hopes up to high at this point.

Rachel,
If you want to come, we will work something out. I understand the challenges of the baby juggle. Positive thoughts.

By the way, I so understand the trauma of delivery. One day I will tell you what Tanner did to me. Amazing that we live to tell the story.

I'm so excited about this team-tri event and my new goal of swimming 1.2 miles quickly! It's just what I'm going to need to get me through a long, cold (but not lonely) winter :)

Rachel: sure hope you can round out our team. It should be a fun time.
