TRI it again

Saturday was my 2nd Sprint Triathlon here on Fort Carson. It was only the 2nd year they have had it, but what it lacked in organization it made up for in prizes. I will have to actually think about training for it next year to win something. Top male and female and also masters got a beautiful crystal flame trophy and Ipod Nano. Age groupers got metals and 1st place Ipod shuffles, 2nd place Underarmour sports bag, and 3rd place $25 gift card to Dicks Sporting Goods. I improved on my time but hard to compare to the first Tri since the swim and run were longer but the bike leg was shorter.

I placed 8th overall with a time of 1 hour, 14 minutes 11 seconds, placing 7th in my age group. 30-39 is full of all those overachievers. :) Actually in a couple of years when I know what I am doing I may have a chance. I was less than 9 minutes behind the top female, and think I know where I can take that off of with the right training. (Any other age group and I would be good to go.)

With that said...I really don't care to train. I enjoy just doing them because I can. I love to workout but hate to be so specific to do all that cardio to actually win. I am content with just the two for the year. I have too many other hobbies and interests I don't want to take away from at this time in my life. Maybe when the kids are grown or out of the house.

I feel great and recovered immediately afterwards. During the running leg I thought to myself, "I am never doing this again, it's too much work." Then as soon as it is over I am ready for the next one. I am not sore at all, yesterday we did a hill climb ride and it felt great and I felt great. Off to get ready to take kiddo to the pool (that's the kind of training I am talking about, especially with all these 90+ degree days)!
