I have so much to catch up on!
First, I did a big thing this week. I met a guy at the gym whose wife is a yoga instructor. I have been promising myself that I would work on flexibility for years now. Everytime I resolve to do it, I wimp out. I hate group classes. I am intimidated. I am not coordinated or flexible and I always feel so awkward around a new group of women. It always seems like a calm, feel good sport and that is just not my personality. I have never done well with the cool down part of any class, how in the world can I do well in a class where the whole idea is to destress? I live for stress. Anyway, I contacted her and hired her for personal yoga sessions in my home! She will come once a week and work with me on flexibility and the diciplines of yoga. I am strong and I do a lot of core work and functional training, so maybe I won't completely embarrass myself. I am so excited. I told her that she really has a challenge in me, but she seems very motivated. She will also tailor the instruction for a runner. Yeah me!
Second, I got up and ran with my group again yesterday. We did 20 miles in much better weather. Before we left the store the owner spent some time with me asking me how my training was going and so forth. Then, he told me he wanted to put me on the store's team! I am not sure what that means (other than running in the store singlet for the marathon and training a bit with teammates), but I have never been picked to be on a team so I am thrilled.
My run went great. 2 weeks ago when we did 20, I really suffered the last 2 miles with pace. This week, I pulled the group in the last few miles! We managed 7:49 pace overall. We only did the first 5 miles between 8 and 8:15, so 15 miles were pretty hard miles. I am a bit sore today, but I could run if I had to. That said, I think I will wait until tomorrow.

Congrats! You're one step closer to getting a shoe contract!
I think you'll like the yoga. You will see an improvement in your flexibility with just one session. The secret is that they hold the pose for an extended period of time, release for a bit, then do the pose again. And again and maybe even again. Each time you do it you'll be able to stretch farther.
I always enjoyed doing it after my run. The class was at 10 so I'd put in my miles beforehand, use the yoga as my post-run stretch, then top it off with a smoothie. I don't recommend the other way around because you're right, you will be relaxed. It's hard to run fast with Jell-O legs. Good luck!
